Two new schemes for Northern Territory residents that support eligible pensioners, including aged pension recipients, with the cost of living and recognise the valuable contribution seniors continue to make to the Northern Territory.

 

NT CONCESSION SCHEME

A means-tested scheme supporting eligible Territorians with the cost of living.

NT SENIORS RECOGNITION SCHEME

Recognising the valuable contribution senior Territorians make to the Northern Territory. All senior Territorians 65 years or older, are eligible for this scheme

Applications and Confirmations

Current Members (Confirming your details)

Current members will be transitioned to the new scheme and asked to confirm their details. Member details must be confirmed by 31 December for members to continue to receive concessions. Members can start the process by confirming details below.

To be eligible for both schemes you must reside in the Northern Territory and be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident and be a current Northern Territory Pensioner and Carer Concession member.

Before you apply

Before you start your confirmation for the NT Concession Scheme or NT Seniors Recognition Scheme you will need your current Northern Territory Pensioner and Carer Concession member number. Your six digit membership number can be found on your card or by calling the NT Concession and Recognition Unit on 1800 777 704.

If you are eligible for the NT Seniors Recognition Scheme and choose to use your payment for electricity and/or water, you will need to provide your customer ID or consumer ID. Your customer ID or consumer ID can be found on a previous electricity or water bill.

New Members

To be eligible for both schemes you must reside in the Northern Territory and be an Australian Citizen or permanent resident.

To be eligible for NT Concession Scheme you must receive one of the following commonwealth benefits:

  • Age Pension
  • Disability Support Pension
  • Carer Payment
  • Parenting Payment (single)
  • Or an eligible Department of Veterans’ Affairs benefit

To be eligible for the NT Seniors Recognition Scheme you must be turning 65 years or older.

Before you start your application please read the Member's Rights and Responsibilities.

To apply for the NT Concession Scheme or NT Seniors Recognition Scheme you will need to provide the following supporting documents:

  • Proof of identification - photo identification showing my name, birthdate and signature
  • Proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residency - passport, birth certificate or extract, citizenship certificate or permanent residency visa.
  • Proof of residential address – a document/letter issued by a government agency, electricity or water provider or financial institution showing my name and current residential address.
