Booking with an Approved Vendor
If an Approved Vendor charges a booking fee, they are required to advise the Member. If a Member is not happy with the service provided by an Approved Vendor, they can contact the NT Concession and Recognition Unit on 1800 777 704.
Booking your own travel
Members can book their own travel if they take and claim their travel within the voucher’s valid period (between 1 July and 30 June).
To claim, Members will need to bring their invoice, travel voucher, and itinerary to a Territory Families shop front, to redeem the voucher, once travel has been taken. Payment will be made into the Member’s bank account.
Private vehicle travel
Vouchers can also be used for private vehicle travel. Members must collect a Private Vehicle form prior to departure, which must be signed by an authorised person at the travel destination.
Once travel is complete, Members must bring in the completed Private Vehicle Form and valid travel vouchers to a Territory Families shop front for reimbursement.
The $250 payment can be used for 100km of travel and the $500 payment can be used for 300km of travel.
Members may use their travel entitlement to bring family and friends to visit them in the NT.
If Non-Members are travelling privately with their own vehicle, they Members must fill out a Non-Member private vehicle travel form. Once travel has been completed, the Member can bring valid vouchers and the Non-Member travelling form (signed by the Non-Member) to the shop front. The Member will receive the reimbursement in their bank account.
Travelling over two financial years
Members that book their own travel or travel by private vehicle over two financial years can only claim their voucher in the financial year that the voucher was issued.
For example, Members with travel vouchers valid from 1 July 2018 to 30 June 2019 cannot claim travel taken after 30 June 2019, even if they depart before this date.
