Two new schemes for Northern Territory residents that support eligible pensioners, including aged pension recipients, with the cost of living and recognise the valuable contribution seniors continue to make to the Northern Territory.

A means-tested scheme supporting eligible Territorians with the cost of living.

Recognising the valuable contribution senior Territorians make to the Northern Territory. All senior Territorians 65 years or older, are eligible for this scheme

Members who choose to use the payment for travel will be issued with a travel voucher. The travel vouchers can be redeemed by Members for travel within the Northern Territory, interstate and overseas.

The travel voucher can be applied to any travel fare. Members can use the travel voucher for family members and friends to visit them in the NT.

Members who choose travel will be provided with one or two (subject to the value they choose) $250 travel vouchers. Travel vouchers will be valid until 30 June each year and cannot accrue over multiple years.

Members can use two valid vouchers totaling $500 in one transaction to subsidise the cost of fares within the Northern Territory, interstate and overseas or each valid voucher totaling $250 for two separate transactions.

Travel vouchers can only be used once. If travel costs are under the value of the voucher/s the remaining amount will be forfeit.

Members with unused travel vouchers can request to convert the $500 payment to apply to electricity and/or water prior to 31 May. Payments made to electricity and/or water cannot be converted to travel once processed.
